Cyclone 'Fengal' will cause devastation in these states, red alert issued

Chennai: A cyclone is forming in the Bay of Bengal once again, this cyclone has been named 'Fengal'. The Meteorological Department predicts that the deep pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will soon turn into a cyclone. Due to which heavy rains may fall in many states of South India. Keeping the cyclone in mind, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert.



On Wednesday, the cyclone was about 120 km southeast of Trincomalee. It was 370 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 470 km southeast of Puducherry and 550 km southeast of Chennai. The Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring the cyclone.

The cyclone can cause devastation in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. High waves are rising in the sea. According to Skymet Weather, due to the low pressure zone formed in the Bay of Bengal, rain is falling in many parts of Sri Lanka. During this period, heavy rain has occurred in Jaffna and Mullaitivu.


During this period, it is also raining in Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is falling in many districts of Tamil Nadu including Cuddalore, Karaikal, Athirampattinam, Parangipettai, Meenambakkam.

If Cyclone Fengal hits the coast of Tamil Nadu, the maximum damage can be done in Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, the impact of the storm can also be seen in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. According to Skymet Weather, the cyclonic storm can either hit the southern coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh or it will go very close to the coast.


A red alert has been issued in Tamil Nadu in view of the storm. IndiGo has issued an advisory for flights due to the cyclone, stating that flights to and from Chennai, Tuticorin and Madurai are being affected.
