A Shiva devotee has secretly donated 120 kg of gold for Kashi Vishwanath temple. This devotee is a resident of South India. Gold leaf has been placed inside the sanctum sanctorum. Now it will also be installed on the outer wall. That is why Baba's temple will be covered with gold.

. Internal security of the temple has been handed over to CRPF. UP police and PAC personnel are on 24-hour duty for external security. Their duties are in shifts. CCTV cameras have also been installed in many places. No devotee can harm the gold leaf. Devotees are barred from the steel barricades in the sanctum sanctorum. Large festivals like Shravan and Mahashivaratri do not allow devotees to enter the sanctum sanctorum due to heavy crowds. Arrangements are made for darshan and anointing from there.

also. Earlier in 2012 also, a plan was made to embed gold in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. But then the civil engineers of IIT-BHU tested the sanctum sanctorum walls. The engineer said he had reported that the walls of the sanctum sanctorum could not be loaded so much. After which the plan did not go ahead. So when the construction of the corridor was completed on December 13 last year, the walls of the sanctum sanctorum were strengthened. After which it has been decided to embellish the entire sanctum sanctorum with gold before Mahashivaratri.
The sanctum sanctorum of the court is now gilded. Devotees saw this for the first time on this Mahashivaratri.

The renovation of Kashi Vishwanath temple was done by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in the year 1780. After which in the year 1853 Maharaja Ranjit Singh had 22 manas of pure gold inlaid the peaks with gold. After which, this year on Mahashivaratri, the court of Baba Vishwanath has been decorated with golden leaves.
On Mahashivaratri, the temple administration has announced an advisory for the devotees. Devices like mobiles are not allowed in the temple.
Shrikashi Vishwanath Dham was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on 13 December 2021. After the inauguration of the Dham, the number of devotees coming here for Darshan-puja has increased a lot.
