

Chennai: The impact of Cyclone Fengal, which has formed in the Bay of Bengal, is being seen in various parts of South India. There is a possibility of heavy rain in some areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, for which a warning has been issued. Schools will be closed in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Friday and Saturday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Fengal is currently intensifying in the Bay of Bengal.
Due to which there will be heavy rain with strong winds in the next 48 hours. There is a possibility of widespread impact of the cyclone in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. Puducherry Home Minister A Namasivayam has announced a holiday in all schools here for the next two days.
Where did the cyclone reach:
An official of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Center said that a high pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal. It is about 310 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 410 km southeast of Puducherry and 480 km from Chennai. The administration in Tamil Nadu has issued a warning in view of the cyclone. Accordingly, people living in low-lying and coastal areas have been asked to follow safety norms.

The Meteorological Centre said in a bulletin that Cyclone Phangal will move towards the north-northwest of the Sri Lankan coast. It will intensify into a cyclone during the next 12 hours. Around the morning of November 30, it will cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast between Mahabalipuram. During this period, the wind speed will be 50-60 to 70 kmph. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in some parts of Tamil Nadu on November 29 and 30.
In which, heavy rainfall is likely in South Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on November 29. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala, Mahe and South Karnataka as well as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 30 and December 1. Navy, HADR and SAR teams have been deployed to help people. NDRF said its team inspected sensitive and low-lying areas in TR Pattanam, Karaikal and discussed safety measures with officials.
